Mary & Nate were shocked to discover that the maryandnate.com domain was unregistered when they started making their website!
Nate soon discovered that we weren't the first "Mary & Nate" to rent this space though. A quick check with the Internet Wayback Machine reveals two predecessors who registered maryandnate.com and let their registration lapse:
Mary & Nate — Belleville, IL (2017)
Nice, clean, responsive design with colors befitting a cool October wedding.
Mary & Nate — Ann Arbor, MI (2014)
A classic TheKnot.com design from 2014! Although, not too classic; TheKnot was founded in 1996 and claims to be the first wedding planning site.
Very belated congratulations to Mary & Nate and Mary & Nate, and we are excited to follow in your footsteps!
How it's made
Nate made the website with home-grown HTML, CSS, & Javascript, built on top of the Bootstrap 5 framework. The website is hosted on Google Cloud as a static site.
And, of course, all editing was done with the Vim text editor, first released by Bram Moolenar in 1991 (hey, that's Nate's birth year!). Here's what that looks like from Nate's perspective right now:
